Learn the early history of the area through a guided tour: Tuesday- Saturday 11am-4pm.

Owned and managed by The Greater Banner Elk Heritage Foundation.

The Beech Mountain History Museum is located at 405 Beech Mountain Parkway, next to Fred’s. The Museum is open from mid-June to mid-October, and also on holiday weekends. Hours are 1:00 to 4:00. No charge for admission.

The Museum has beautiful 2017 calendars with photographs of Beech in four seasons, available for a $5.00 donation. Also for sale at the museum are a pictorial Beech Mountain history book, Beech Mountain and the new full color Land of Oz, for $20.00.

The Historical Society is now accepting photo entries for the 2018 Beech Mountain Calendar contest. The calendar will feature photographs of Beech Mountain in all seasons. Send photos to All submittals must be 7 ½” x 10” in dimension, 300 dpi, in PDF format.
